Motorcyclist Dies in U.S. 41 Crash

A 23-year-old Land O’ Lakes man is dead following an afternoon motorcycle crash on U.S. 41 near Community Center Road.

Zachariah Thomas McCabe was heading southbound on U.S. 41 nearing Community Center Road “at a high rate of speed and completing multiple lane changes” when a northbound car driven by Isabel Rhonda, 69, of Land O’ Lakes attempted to turn left, a Florida Highway Patrol media release stated. McCabe’s Yamaha struck Rhonda’s Toyota SUV.

McCabe, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital North where he later died, the release said.

Rhonda was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Charges are pending the outcome.
