Brittany Miles, 21, of Spring Hill, has been identified by authorities as the woman accused of striking and killing a motorcyclist, Henry McCain, 66, of Spring Hill, after she injured a Pasco County Sheriff's deputy with her pickup at a traffic stop and drove away.

Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll said in a media release that charges against Miles will include at least fleeing to elude, escape, and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer or attempted murder on a law enforcement
officer.

She may be booked into the Hernando County Jail. She could face additional charges from the Florida Highway Patrol, which is investigating McCain's death with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Ashley Grady, 23, the injured Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy, should recover, Doll said. The news isn’t so good for a motorcycle rider in Hernando County who was struck by the fleeing suspect.

According to Doll, the incident began just after 7 this morning when Grady made a DUI traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Florestate Drive in Hudson. Miles had been placed in handcuffs when she managed to get back into her car and drive off, Doll wrote in a media release.

“Grady was reaching into the window, trying to stop her from fleeing,” Doll wrote. “The truck careened across three lanes of northbound U.S. 19.” Grady was still holding on at this point.

The deputy fell into the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 and suffered head injuries and scrapes, Doll said.

At this point, Miles drove northbound into Hernando County where she is said to have struck and killed McCain at U.S. 19 and County Line Road.
