Dems Plan to Crash Romney’s Party in Land O’ Lakes

Former Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink will join teachers today outside Gov. Mitt Romney's rally in Land O' Lakes for a 4 p.m. press conference.

As former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney prepares to take the stage tonight inside Land O' Lakes High School's John Benedetto Stadium, Florida’s former Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, teachers’ union members and other Democrats will gather outside for a 4 p.m. press conference.

“Participants will address the clear differences between the President Obama and Mitt Romney’s plans for our country, and highlight Mitt Romney’s hypocrisy of promising to cut funding for public education and teachers as he holds a rally at a public high school,” a media release from Obama for America – Florida said.

Members of the United School Employees of Pasco are organizing to stage a protest outside of Romney’s Rally. So are members of Students Against Romney, a grassroots group formed by a Land O’ Lakes High senior.

Romney’s plan to host a rally at the 20325 Gator Lane school has sparked controversy.

Detractors say the Pasco County School District violated its own policy by allowing Romney to speak. It had previously denied a request by Sink, then a gubernatorial candidate, to film a commercial at a Pasco school campus.

The school district, however, did grant Vice President Joe Biden access for a 2011 event at Oakstead Elementary School in Land O’ Lakes while he was stumping for support for the American Jobs Act.

Romney’s rally begins today, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. for ticketholders. To find out more about tickets, visit the Romney campaign online.
