Small Businesses Invited to Rock

Vendors are wanted for the 15th annual Rockus Maximus Battle of the Bands.

Are you ready to rock?

If you’re a small business owner, the Pasco County Library System hopes so.

Organizers of the 15th annual are looking for vendors to set up shop during the March 23 concert that features eight local bands in a contest to win recording studio time.

Since the concert has a new home this year – the Rotary Pavilion on Alric Pottberg Road in Shady Hills – there’s more space and availability to accommodate food vendors and other businesses, said Paul Stonebridge, the concert’s organizer and the library system’s teen services manager.

So, what kinds of vendors are needed for a teen battle of the bands?

“Food or music related, if they want to do it,” Stonebridge said, adding that the intent is to give small business owners a venue to not only make a little money, but also show off what they have to offer the community. “(There’s) no charge for vendors to come out. If they feel like donating, cool. It’s mostly a chance to reach teens and families.”

Sponsorships are also still available for the concert, which features the main event on March 23 and two promotional concerts that have just been announced. The first promo concert is set for Feb. 25 at the South Holiday Library. The second one takes place at the Land O’ Lakes Library March 9.

The annual battle is staged by the library system, but costs no taxpayer dollars. Fundraisers, sponsorship and donations offset operational costs.
